What are Stainless Steel Stockholders?

Friday, March 4th, 2011

Stainless steel stockholders are companies which have large warehouse storage space and have a client base who regularly order high volumes of stainless steel bar, blanks & billets. Other stainless steel products which stockholders offer are things such as steel rounds, sheet and wire.

Stainless Steel Stockholder Services
Some steel stockholders offer other associated machining services as well as the supply of bulk steel products such as steel sawing, shearing, profiling, special fabrication and stainless steel drilling. These processes help industry to speed up production lines as they can work faster is they are able to order in stainless steel parts which can be adding to their manufacturing process without any additional finishing.

Chase Alloys is a well established stainless steel stockholder in Staffordshire – go to their website: www.chasealloys.co.uk/

How is Stainless Steel Bar Made?

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

The manufacture of stainless steel bar products along with other stainless steel mass produced products such as stainless steel flats, sheet and wire are produced within a blast furnace. Within the furnace, carbon electrodes are aligned to make contact with varying amounts nickel, nitrogen and molybdenum at a very high temperature.

Once the steel making furnace reaches the optimum melting point the different metal alloys in the mix fuse to create one metal alloy. Then the alloy is fed into an argon vessel where de-carbonization takes place, once within the vessel, forging or casting can begin. This is when different shapes and forms are created for a variety of market sectors. Shapes such as round, flats, bar, sheet and steel wire are easy mass produced using this technique and as its very malleable, it can then be moulded into a variety of shapes including stainless steel bar.

What is the Composition of Stainless Steel Bar?

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

The composition of stainless steel bar is a blend of alloys of several metals with at least 10% chromium. Chromium has a high polish, high melting point and is known as a hard metal which is also odourless, tasteless and is easily manipulated into other shapes or forms making stainless steel bar easy to re-form into different bar products.

Stainless steel bar is stainless because of Its chromium content as the chromium oxide forms a thin layer on the ’skin’ of the steel which is un-detectable by the naked eye. This thin layer of chromium self heals when scratched and is flexible if the stainless steel is stretched. The re-healing properties of chromium are only active when in contact with oxygen gas, so if stainless steel bar products are in use in a non-oxygenated environment such as a marine environment then corrosion may occur more easily.

Other alloys which make up stainless steel bar are metals such as varying amounts of nickel, nitrogen and molybdenum, which affect its durability.

What is Stainless Steel Bar?

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

Basically stainless steel bar is steel which is alloyed or blended with non-corrosive or low corrosive metals and then mass produced in refineries in bars which are then cut to order for a range of manufacturing and industrial applications. These steel bars are called lengths of bar which are easy to transport on flat-bed lorries for easy distribution. Stainless steel bar can alternatively be forged into custom lengths for special fabrications.

Stainless Steel Bar Shapes
Stainless steel bar can be produced in a variety of different shapes and ideal for the manufacture of all kinds of products from cutlery, saucepans and also work-surfaces and even watch straps.

Stainless steel bar is as its name suggests is steel which has been produced specifically not to stain, corrode or rust as easily as standard steel. Stainless steel bar is also referred to as Corrosion-Resistant Steel in some industries where the mix of metal alloys is not detailed such as aviation industry.

There are many different types of stainless steel bar as there are different applications for it in manufacturing and each require different finishes. These types range from polished, reflective finish as used by stainless steel kitchen utensil producers. Stainless steel bar can be finished with many different surface textures and qualities; such as coarse, brushed, matte and even a mirrored finish can be achieved.

Group Programmes – Benefits of Studying in Groups

Thursday, February 24th, 2011

There are many benefits of studying in group programmes at colleges, as there is the opportunity to make friends of similar age and ability with similar interests and you may find it easier to discuss the subject within a group rather than studying in small classes or with a personal tutor. Plus you may find that you try harder if their are students in the group that achieve higher grades from being more focused. Most colleges run group programmes for all kinds of subjects from academic courses through to sports subjects in the summer months so that those students who wish to progress themselves in their holiday may do so.

These summer group programmes also help those who may have perhaps not done so well in their mock exams half-way through their A-Levels or GCSE courses and want to brush up on their subjects before returning next term.

Another name for summer group programmes is holiday courses as the majority of students will be enjoying a welcome break from study.

Summer group programmes are especially useful for overseas students who want to learn English and improve their academic skills at the same time by attending a UK college during their summer holidays. Plus the added advantage of doing this is they can explore the country at the same time and visit touristic sites and towns too.
