Platform

The hosting platform is the operating system used by the web server which is hosing your website. The technology and languages used to develop the website are often the deciding factors when choosing a platform. If you have a particular preference for the server operating system we can arrange for the website to be developed and hosted on that platform. Alternatively we can select the most suitable platform once the requirements have been defined.

Windows

Linux

Microsoft Windows is an extremely popular desktop/workstation operating system. In order to provide complete solutions for businesses Microsoft also have a range of server operating systems. The popularity of these servers has grown significantly, serving some of the largest business infrastructures in the world. The ASP.Net framework is a technology provided by Microsoft which allows developers to create rich, dynamic websites that are capable of performing services such as database transactions and interaction with other websites.

It is estimated that around one fifth of all websites are hosted on Linux servers. Linux is an open source operating system which is widely used to serve websites due to the excellent services such as the Apache web server and MySQL database server developed by the open source community.

In order to create dynamic websites PHP was developed for the Linux platform. This has become a very popular scripting language and has since been made available on Windows servers. Coupling the abilities of PHP with the versatility of MySQL allows developers to achieve industry standard levels of security and functionality with ease.
